Phantasy Star Zero Plot Page 2 * PS Zero Plot Page 3 * PS-Zero Plot Page 4 * PS-Zero NPC Guide * Dynasty Home *

PSZero takes place in the PSO universe.
It’s about 200 or so years in the future, after Pioneer 2 leaves & everyone who was going, got to Ragol. The opening is an animated cinematic that got a lot of good press at the time, for looking very nice on the hand-held DS. It’s got voice over work, music, & everything does look good / holds up well. The opening explains the “3 tribes” (humans, newman, casts) had a good deal of prosperity/technology/etc, but then there were wars (10 Nation alliance stuff) pollution & environment problems (part of the reason the Pioneer projects were done) & then “The Great Blank”.

This time period is to open about 200 years AFTER The Great Blank. Some of the old technology is clearly left-over from before the apocalypse because Casts are alive (as it were…) & can be repaired, the weapons can be forged/messed with, limited roads & transportation works etc. The town you can access is sort of ‘western’ with cobbled streets, wooden carts, & manual labor. It’s a hodge-podge of futuristic items/areas & sort of “Mad Max” type early tech people are having to re-discover.

The people are the same way too, except for casts. The humans you can meet & choose all have normal clothes (no futuristic plastic stuff or glowing clothes) & they all also have only drab hair & eye colors. It used to be that anyone could have any color of hair or eyes, but now they only come in yellowish, brownish, reddish or black hair, and with brownish, greenish or blue eyes. Only newmen have more exotic hair & eye colors, & they also have futuristic clothing options & helmets they can use. (All this applies to NPCs as well as your options at choosing a character. All male casts are metalfaces & all female casts are metal/doll faces. There are no plastic (ex. Imitation/realistic skin) or mannequin type faces available/ever seen.

It explains society is slowly pulling itself back together, the planet is going a bit better back to normal & everything’s pretty peaceful…”Until Today”

Where it shows ships coming down from the planet’s moon.

The planet here is called “Earth” and its moon is called “Moon”.
The people called it those names because they forgot the original names in TGB. The planet is supposed to be called “Coral” and the moon’s name is “Arca”. So yes, this is, in fact, the dystopian future of what happened to everyone who DIDN’T go to Ragol.  (Hint: probably 90% or so of them died)

If you start off as a newman:
The “until today” ends with ships dropping from the sky & you see one crash. The next scene is Reeve without his face mask, asking if you are ok. The ship that fell was yours, Reeve was in another one. He explains that it got going too fast and crashed. The crash must have affected your memory. There are a few options here like “…” or “I have no idea” when he asks you things, so they’re likely about the same result with him. (Like what’s your name, who is he, where are you) This is so you can frame your character around anything and you aren't role-playing a specific pre-made person.

He states your mission which is to infiltrate & observe the Earth-people that you will find in town. He thinks it’s ok that your memory is gone because then “They can’t torture you for information”. He advises you to just go there & act normal and watch what’s going on. Then, he takes off running in the opposite direction to get on with his own mission, telling you to make reports to him as you find out things.

It then drops you off in the town, where Sarisa comes running up. She will say she recognizes you from “training” on the moon, but didn’t know you well. You can pretend you’re ok, or ask her about what’s going on/what she’s doing. She says that she (& you) will be hunters# going on random assignments that could really be anything—so it’s perfect for info gathering. She invites you along because a guy named Kai is going to help her out too.

*This is all the newman-specific stuff from the start of the game.

If you start off as a cast

If you start off as a human

You then get the chance to check out the town & you can meet: Milio & Cyan, Natsume & Ohyo. Those are the only characters you ever find in the town, because it is very small. The rest of the people are shop keepers.  The interior of the hunter’s building has Lindow, the Mayor & Gray.

Lindow will explain to you about mags (an artificial life form that can evolve and do PBs) & what’s known about the races. Humans are most numerous, as it was before TGB. They’re on the rebound now too. All Casts were put to sleep by TGB. A few have woken over the years, but recently loads more are waking up. They can’t procreate (obviously) so there’s no way other than waking to get more of them. (Heavily implies no one knows how they work, how they were built & any factory or lab is long gone) Newmen were all around before TGB, but now, not a single one remains and no one knows why.

Swamp Devil
There’s only one quest you can actually take at the start, which is “Swamp Devil” Sarisa appears as soon as you go down to the Ozette Wetlands. This is a “fall-season” looking swamp with tall brown grass, yellow/brown/orange leaves & brown water. It rains there for half of the year. The path is a wooden dock-like structure between dry areas of land that have grasses/scrub bushes & barren dirt. The wooden structure was built long ago. A mystery monster has been attacking people in the area, and this quest is to find out what it is & defeat it if necessary. Kai is supposed to already be there on the investigation so you & Sarisa are meant to meet him.

You don’t find him in the level itself.
No matter where you go, he won’t show up until you get to the boss room. In the level you find porel & pobomma which are like 2 to 3 foot tall frogs with blocky antennas on their heads & a fin on their back. They hop at you & spit to cause damage. There is also the hypao, a seal like thing with sharp frills on its tail that charges, spins & can form a ball of zonde to shock you with its tail. The Pelcatraz is a giant slow flying bird with large ugly face that attacks with claw & wing swipes. It isn’t explained why the animals here are mean.

Along the way Sarisa says you’re doing well at battle, but she was always better at books than fighting because she’s kind of clumsy. She mentions lending you a book about 2 heroes that band together and save the world, but says it was before you lost your memory / wasn’t important but that you said you liked it. She reveals that she lied at first (not knowing you well) and says you actually talked to her a lot. Your options here are “Please lend it again” or “Maybe I’ll remember someday…” both are sort of wistful, but she’d be happy to lend it again.

Sarisa asks if Reeve gave you any info when you got (literally) dropped off. She explains that he’s prickly, serious and has quite an ego. She thinks he’d be a better leader if he were easier to talk to, like you are. (though she shouldn’t say so)

Sarisa trips & tells you about her pod landing in Gurhacia Valley. She had to run from a dragon, when Kai showed up to help distract it so they could both run. At that point he told her about the hunters, the city, etc & asked her to join so she did. She then explains quitting quests / how to.

Message Pack: “A Childlike Dream”: We should see here and now but he only sees the future. I envy that.

The next interaction ability is the first that gives you a chance to cultivate Sarisa or purposely antagonize her with your answers.

Where is Kai?
Did he get lost? Where is the meeting point? Did you lead us the wrong way?
If you pick the meeting point, it was right around the area, but clearly he isn’t. Accusing her antagonizes her. If you ask if he got lost, she’ll say it has to be him & no way could it be her…maybe he went on ahead. If you do go on ahead there’s a boss warp & a tentacle appears from the swamp.

Stand & Fight , Go to Sarisa , Shout for help
Any option leads to the Octo Diablo fight where Kai rushes onto the scene with a “count me in!” and guns blazing. He doesn’t know you, but welcomes the help. He also calls it “An Octopus”, which means that there are actual, normal octopuses on the planet for this only-somewhat octopus like monster to be compared to. (It has 6 eyes, it blinks, has crab claws on the ends of some tentacles, the mouth is in the front not under it/many flaps/teeth & spits poison instead of ink while also being able to create a huge suction of air to draw in prey.)

The actual Octo Diablo fight may accidentally be one of the tougher ones in the game. If you accidentally missed paths in the level, you could be under equipped or under leveled for the boss battle. Forces could especially run into trouble because disks are very infrequent drops in the level & the store won’t sell you one unless you die in the level/fight & are forced to return to town. (And even then, it only sells Foie lvl 1--which doesn't work very well unless you got a FO wep along the way, which is pure chance) If you fail the Octo Diablo fight, you can’t do anything else, other than try to fight it again. Because it’s the only quest & enemies don’t respawn  you can’t gather more materials or level up. With no opportunity to get more money, you can also run completely out of mates/fluids & not be able to buy any more, also.

If you can beat this boss…
Sarisa stumbles over where you’re actually from & Kai says everyone has the proverbial skeletons in the closet (including him). Sarisa asks Kai to recommend you for the Hunters, but he was basically about to do that very thing anyway. Everyone agrees to return to town to restock, turn in the mission & regroup.

Going back up on the teleporter lets you meet Mayor Dairon. Before you get to him though, Kai was hoping he could see you get amazed at the town like Sarisa was. He nettles her over it, but because you saw it before going on the mission, it’s not as big of a deal to you.
The mayor takes Kai’s recommendation and looks you over as a candidate. He says your clothes are like Sarisa’s so you must be from the same area, if you are a newman. There’s no real test to get in, just the talking & being recommended part. He’ll take care of the paperwork, as Kai is “one of the top hunters”. All three explain the counter / how to do quests and how they work. Dairon asks how do you like the city. Seems Nice. You did a good job mayor. It seems like a normal town. If you say it seems nice (this answer fits in with what Natsume, Sarisa & Kai seem to think of the town) The mayor is happy & says he likes his job. He admits that only recently has the town really started to take off, thanks to the efforts of hunters.

He has one more question which is foreshadowing: “Did anyone in you & Sarisa’s town (Or did you hear on your quests / from other people if you are not a newman) of anyone destroying ruins? He has had a report where an unexplored ruin was destroyed, and there was evidence of weapon & technique use, so it means monsters / hostiles didn’t do it. Sarisa doesn’t know & Kai is outraged that someone would do something to destroy everyone’s precious lifeline to history & technology.

Outside, you meet Gray again & he explains that a dragon is menacing people in the Gurhacia area. It had previously been seen, but not really done much…however now it is attacking teams so the Hunters’ guild puts out an official quest to stop it. Will Sarisa go? (as that was her main menace from earlier) Yes, because it’s sort of personal vs the dragon now & Gray feels that there’s no 3 better for the job. Sarisa says she feels unspecial, so Don’t put yourself down. Kai is the strongest. Or You have a long way to go. If you tell her not to put herself down, she says she’ll try to live up to it & Kai agrees. (The last one is clearly there to antagonize her if you don’t like her)

Ohyo will speculate that there could be a newman literally anywhere because nobody's ever seen one.

Quest: Fighting Fear

This quest shows the Gurhacia Valley. It is a desert-like place with reddish brown rocks, scrub grass & sand. It also has canyons & a few wooden paths. You basically have to stamp around the area until you find the dragon, according to the quest orders. After getting past the garapythons (an armored snake that flings itself at you) a hellion (a lion-bull-scorpian combination animal that leaps, charges & sets fires), Grimbles (saber-tooth warthogs) and the ghowls (a 2 legged lizard that bites), you reach an expedition party. The guy is afraid, so Kai asks if a dragon has attacked him, while explaining you are hunters & here to help cure the dragon problem in the area. The guy says no way, this was a crazy hostile man using lightening techniques. He ran everyone off, but didn't kill them, he was more intent on destroying the ruins that they were there to look at. Kai says the party should just go back to town, while your team investigates. Sarisa says do you think it was...? (remain silent / cock head inquisitive) If you choose to stay silent: she '...'s and says what should we do, she doesn’t know what’s right.

Message pack: "The Reckless one" There’s no changing old habits. Someone stop that fool from charging after dreams.”

When you reach the ruined...ruins, Kai looks under the rubble but finds nothing. Looking around a little, someone appears. Kai demands to know who it is. (I know that voice / Capt Reeve / Who are you?!)

If you choose 'Who are you'. Sarisa will say 'that voice...but no...'. Reve appears before the party to prove Sarisa right. Sarisa asks why Reeve is there. Kai doesn't know what’s going on, but is ignored. Reve says it’s his mission, but really the REAL question is why is Sarisa here with “some human”. Instead of spreading the dragon story (the actual reason anyone is there today) she muddles around “um & uh”, so Reve asks why "the surface cretin" knows her name, and claims that the humans were there to lay claim to the ruins. Has she forgotten the mission? She argues back with there's no need to destroy the ruins or attack people who were only coming to learn.

*Why does everyone suddenly forget about the super dangerous dragon? Reve should have bumped into this thing too, if it’s such a menace the quest makes it out to be. Also, tossing the dragon fact out there would defuse Reve and get rid of him….nobody thinks to do it.

He asks Sarisa if forgets the last time the humans “learned too much”. If they access the ruins, they'll lead the planet into destruction again. The solution is to control the root of the knowledge 'ourselves' (which means newmen.) She counters with that humans aren't as ignorant has he thinks, if they made mistakes in the past, she can't think they'd make the same ones again. She IS actually being overly optimistic here. He says her trust in humans is too much, & the notion of being friends with them (not in a fake way, like your own mission) is a bad idea. Sarisa's thinking on her feet and says that getting to know people is part of her mission / to get it right. Reve says a deluded optimist is perfect for an amnesiac and the notion of getting to know who we're facing is fine. He leaves.

Kai is upset / confused. He asks "someone you used to know?"

(Sarisa knows him / I think he's my boss / He seems wierd) If you say he's the boss - Kai asks if things are still fuzzy for you over your amnesia & Sarisa can't talk about it just yet. She says she needs some time before telling everything & if you want to leave, she'll understand. Kai says he understands and she can just tell when ready. No one has a chance to get ready, because the dragon appears. Sarisa worries, but Kai says with 3 people it'll be different this time.

Message Pack – LMA Report 07
Ask the young do, but investigate they do not. You, reading this, are better off.
What does this even mean? Likely that you can assign young people to do something & they will, but they don't investigate as to why / how / ask questions about the situation. This one is vague.

The dragon is a difficult fight if you're not ranged, because it likes to fly around, go up in the sky and do long distance fireball attacks. Its footsteps do damage if you’re close & it is prone to running around / away from melee & some spells. There's also the 'wonderful' lava pool it can make where your NPCs will just stand in it and kill themselves while there's nothing you can do. NPCs aren't aware they take trap damage, and dragging them out of one with distance doesn't always work. The dragon turns red about 1/3 the way through the fight, which makes it stronger & do more attacks.

If you can beat the dragon...
Sarisa is really happy, she doubted it and worried, but Kai knew the team would get through. (We did it as a team / well, you're avenged / are you hurt?) Well you've been avenged - heh thanks – she thought the stories of heroic deeds were fantasy, but we did it as a team & made it happen. She realizes she's stronger with friends behind her, & Kai says that’s the first step to being a good hunter. The mission is done & Kai says lets go celebrate up in the town.

At Dairon’s, he's happy about the dragon defeat, says the ruins were wrecked before you came, though Sarisa is sad. He will schedule more patrols to keep other sites safe. However, a best hunter has gone missing. Dairon was going to introduce him to you today, but he has not returned from a previous mission. In the future, you may be asked about finding him. The mayor leaves as his work is piling up. Foreshadowing in here is usually 1 sentance away from literally happening.

Sarisa looks serious so Kai asks what's up. (Was it ok to keep the secret / lets tell the mayor) Keep Secret- She's not going to go blabbing it to the mayor that she knows the culprit in the ruins destruction, but she likes him since he trusts her & is friendly toward the team. Kai wonders if she was taught everyone was bad/predatory when growing up. She sort of agrees but says it was more like always being overly careful who you trust even a little bit. Kai says mistrusting everyone is sad, but he is glad to hear she's changed her ways.

Once you leave the area, you run into Nicholas.
He's a sort of a wacky mysterious guy. He acts surprised to see you...even though he's never met you. This confuses Kai & Sarisa. Once they get him sorted out a little, he reveals his name & that he is a dealer in relics from ruins. Then, he asks if you are 200 years old (Thats impossible / I'm way older / Im not sure) Impossible: he says 'oh of course it is'...you look younger than he does. It is deeply hinted here that he knows more than he's letting on, or actually believes some people really are that old.
Kai wants the whole issue spelled out, so Nicholas says he had a hunter escort to a ruin where he found a video projector from before the Great Blank. Sarisa asks about TGB because she learned it under a different name. Before she says the name, Kai interrupts wanting to know what the projector is all about. He says he's seen someone identical to you in the video it made. Everyone agrees that's weird, and Sarisa really wants to see it too now.

Nicholas mentions that the person he was with at the ruin was the hunter that's gone missing in the mountains. It's Ogi the cast. Ogi (like all the casts) has no memory of before the blank, but he was always unusually eager to learn & so going with Nicholas was ideal for him. Nicholas had already put the request in with the guild/mayor for someone to go save Ogi. He asks if you will (yes /we'll think about it) yes: he's glad, Kai agrees & Sarisa wants to help. Nicholas says Ogi will be super interested to see you because of the video. That ends the chapter giving you the set up for the next. Kai laments it's "The Mountains" because that place is dangerous. (as if the dragon wasn't a problem?) There is no point in saying you'll think about it, other than to be rude / discourage Nicholas because his quest is clearly where the plot is & you want him to dispense more information.

Chapter 3 Clockworks

This mission takes place on the Rioh Snowfield, a dark forest lit by lanterns on poles. There is evidence of perhaps a logging operation here, with tree trunks on sleds, wooden steps, ladders and other low tech items. For this mission your assignment is to find Ogi the cast.

Sarisa sees snow for the first time & is amazed. She says it’s just like from the story “White Winter Wonderland”. Kai confesses that his first time seeing snow, he thought it was weirdly huge dust, however, now he is unimpressed by it. Sarisa says she just reads all books she sees to learn more.

Now you can see snow for yourself / it tastes delicious / throw a snowball at Sarisa

If you tell her it tastes good, she thinks it’s a trick, because snow is just water…though the statement does make her want to taste-test some. (Some snow actually does have a flavor, sometimes caused by bacteria that live high up in clouds and then fall down in the snow, only to evaporate right back up there again…unless someone eats them first.) Kai says it’s time to look for Ogi, and he shouldn’t be hard to find because casts stand out in environments like this.

Part 1 is fairly uneventful as you have to fight past usanny and stagg. The usanny is a rabbit like animal with long sharp ears that will try to hit you with them, and the stagg is like a moose/deer with giant antlers that will charge you. Neither are super aggressive, but they do run around the areas. Freeze & heal traps (a diamond that pops up out of the ground & explodes) also begin to appear here.

At the start of part 2, you discover Ogi…but he is just a head sitting half buried in the snow. This scares Sarisa, and surprises Kai. He goes on to explain that hostiles that like metal ate his whole body after he lost a fight. (So why didn’t they eat the head too, if these guys could break him up & choke down a thigh, they could fit the head in too) He says that casts wear bodies like humans do hats, only in reverse. A body isn’t necessary for them to live. Kai realizes Ogi must be super durable. Humans are about heart (and need it to live) but Ogi’s heart is in his head.

Then, he catches on that Sarisa is different. (Well obviously, she has pink hair and no other human has the ability for that)  This makes her nervous so she hems and haws saying she’s really no different from anyone else. Fortunately, Ogi is also easily distracted and turns his attention to you:
Who are you? State your name / No one of consequence (its what Sarisa just said) / I’m Kai If you choose your name, it’ll prompt another question about how old you are. Pretending to be Kai won’t accomplish anything & you’re trying to lure Ogi into showing where the mystery video is, so imitating Sarisa also isn’t useful. Are you 200 years old? This again / I’m way older / I was born yesterday .  If you say “this again” to lure him into talking more (Remember, your character has no idea how old it is due to memory loss, lying about it with born yesterday or way older won’t help) Sarisa & Kai are surprised because Nicolas asked that same 200 year question just yesterday. They say as much, so Ogi is able to put it together that you must have met Nicolas who would ask exactly the same thing. Kai explains that it’s Nicolas who sent you. Ogi comments it really does look like you in the video projector.

This only encourages Sarisa to want to see the video even more…but what if someone ruins the ruins before we get there? I care about the ruins / I don’t care. Sarisa obviously suspects Reve of plotting to wreck another one. Now she has a definite interest against him. Of course you have to pick that you care about the ruins, because that’s where the plot is. Sarisa agrees and says learning about the past is really important.

Ogi will show the way if you defeat the hostiles that ate his body. We’ll do it / no way / Kai should decide / Sarisa should decide. (Of course, you should do it) Sarisa should decide  - She is surprised, but says it’s the right thing to do, if the team thinks they can handle it. Kai volunteers to take the head/carry it around. As soon as he does, a hildehgana attacks. It’s a big white ape / yeti and sets off part 2.

After fighting through more usanny, stagg, hildegahna, and wolf like Reyhounds, you get to the boss area, where 5 hildegahna (probably males & females, with a chance of the rare red one) appear to charge around to try and defeat you. It is these sub-boss style monsters that have the taste for metal & it’s likely the pack of them that ate Ogi’s body.

If you can defeat the pack, Ogi will be even more sure it was you in the video. They feel generally all right about having solved the public safety issue with the hostiles. Kai is tired of listening to Ogi’s head though, so (probably-- Ogi seems pretty smart to pick Sarisa out of the pack of being different so he probably doesn't believe what he says here) to agitate him Ogi says he didn’t know humans could rest up by resting their ears with silence. Kai doesn’t want to go listen to the mayor either. Sarisa tries taking some snow for a souvenir.

Sarisa brings Ogi’s head to the mayor with you, which startles Dairon. Dairon asks Ogi what he’ll do, and he confesses the lack of mobility is vexing (really? It is not ‘living’ to lay in 1 spot in the snow for 30 years waiting on “someone to do something”) The mayor reminds the head that no one can build a new working cast body from scratch. Ogi has it figured out though, he’ll get someone to carry him around, then take the first body of a fallen cast that he sees. The mayor thinks that’s incredibly morbid. It would probably be the equivalent of taking the clothes off of a random dead person. Unless you had to take a hacksaw to their neck to get at them.

Ogi thinks that the ruins where the video projector was, would be a good place to look. (For a corpse he can raid) This is good, because it’s 2 in 1, investigate the video & get Ogi a body. Dairon says he’ll pay good money to get Ogi back as a hunter. Ogi reminds him that the city coffers are almost always empty and the Mayor is the one who complains. Ogi is somewhat insensative though, nagging the Mayor about the money. The mayor says that exploration of the area could lead to treasures, settlements, etc which could get money.

We don’t need the money / leave it to us / are you sure about this Mayor?

You want to solve the mystery so “leave it to us” (The mayor is of course, sure, so that option is useless, and quests pay out no matter what at the counter) Darion can rest easy now with you on the job, and he is happy.

Message Pack – Journey of Fun Times
My sheltered upbringing made travelling with them an education. Every day is fun!

Once you leave the mayor’s office, Nicolas finds you. He’s surprised at Ogis head as well. He then tells you about the manhole cover in the ‘town’ area. This activates the manhole, which lets you into the underground shopping area. It's a sort of 'black market' invite-only situation. This area has the Photon Drop shop, where you can only trade PDs for gimmick weps, mags, & scape dolls. There is also the enemy part synthesis guy who will make weapons for you out of the rarely-dropped enemy parts. The “Password Machine” is a vending machine that was created to dispense weapons or items when you received codes from Sega online (like coupon or promo codes) Since the game couldn’t get new content, the machine unlocked stuff already on the cartridge via the slowly doled-out codes, in an effort to keep things fresher.

Mayor’s Mission - Side Mission #1

This is a side mission that appears once you do a couple of normal plot missions. It’s shorter than others (the level itself) and does not directly advance the plot, but rather shows some more insight into the characters. Most side missions are the same way.

For this mission, Dairon asks you to find a plant in the desert area Gurhacia Valley.
Lindow wants to discuss it in secret, so pulls you aside. It was listed as urgent, but she doesn’t see why. There were no help calls in the area, or the plant isn’t listed as medicinal. She can’t find much data on the plant. The quest may be puzzling to her, but she knows the mayor isn’t into shady business. She still doesn’t like the idea of it because there could be dragons in the area.
As you go on the mission, you get various cut-scenes of Lindow & the Mayor as they go about their day. The Mayor is happy, he’s humming along, when Lindow startles him. She says she’s his secretary – always supposed to be nearby. Dairon wants privacy though so he shoos her out of the office. She says she’s a failure at her duty if she is impeding his work. She will wait outside, but speculates that the mayor really is acting odd. She feels bad about keeping an eye on the mayor.

Despite this, she spies on him more. She sees him getting a secret box out of some place in his office. He’s nodding along, saying an item in the box is curing well. It is the mystery plant. Once you reach the dragon, the mayor is grinding up the cured plant. He thought there was a lot, but there’s not enough, he says. Lindow is uncertain about what he’s doing.

If you can beat the dragon, Dairon says in another clip to Lindow, to turn away all his visitors except the most dire of emergencies. He then goes back to his work, saying the liquid is his medicine. Lindow hopes you’re safe in the area of cliffs and dragons.

Once the dragon is gone, a ‘sparkle’ appears on a rock. This is the game’s representation of the plant, since it has no sprite for it. When you pick it up, it will say ‘mission completed’.  When you get back to the town area, Lindow appears immediately. She wants you to look in on the mayor under the justifiable reason of doing your quest report. No one could blame you for something like that. Will do / no way. If you select ‘will do’ because you actually need to finish the mission & move on with the plot, Lindow will tell you of her plan to also barge in at the same time. (So, she is basically super curious and can’t stand it that someone’s having privacy over something) When Lindow smells something strange, both of you can barge into the office.

Dairon is quite startled, and his hair is green. (it was black/dark brown) He rummages for a towel, and gets his hair back to normal. Lindow guesses his secret sauce he’s been cooking up in there is some kind of hair restorative. He won’t deny it, but everyone has some secrets they don’t want others knowing about. He pledges you to silence too. He even offers you his most valued item. (Though no one ever shows, nor tells what this item was. You don’t get it either.) Lindow says Dairon lost all of his credibility after sending out hunters on a personal quest like that. He shoos everyone out of the office again. Lindow is confused. What should the response be?

Laugh it off/ Get mad If you pick laugh it off, (really, it is pretty silly situation) She says that makes sense because the situation is astounding and weird. She recommends that you should overlook it too, because the Mayor works hard at his job and should get a break. Really? If she beleives the 'mayor works hard to deserve a break', why was she so unwilling to over look it the whole time before now? Why scorn him when her endless prying finally reveals his private reason? It's fine for hairless androids to not understand human hair needs, but she is acting illogically with her conclusion regardless of her understanding or lack of understanding about hair. When you turn this quest in, you will get the “Grow-Shower” a watering can weapon.

Devilish Return: Side Mission

This, naturally involves the Octo Diablo once again. Sarisa is mandatory to bring with on the quest. There’s been a report of people seeing an Octo in the wetlands again, but Sarisa is sure that we got rid of it the first time. I’m Sure / Maybe We Didn’t Knock it Out If you pick you’re sure you got rid of it, Gray says not to imply that you didn’t get it, maybe instead there are more, or it is actually undefeatable. Sarisa worries, it was scary and terrible the first time. This boss is a phobia for her. The dragon DID nearly kill her before the story even started, and is arguably more dangerous, but for her this boss is gross and thus scarier than all others.

At the Ozette Wetlands, Sarisa says her heavy outfit is a drag in the humidity. What do you think of the weather? I love it / I hate it. If you say you hate it, she’ll agree & then say she’s creeped out by ‘bad vibes’ in the area, or maybe it’s the humidity, so time to get the quest over with.

In the 2nd area, she wants to rest a bit. She wonders about the report, could there be more than one or is it invincible? More than One / We didn’t finish the job. If you remain sure that there are more than one, she says it’s natural to think so, but, if we really didn’t get it last time, it won’t be easy this time. She wants a plan so she won’t just freeze up. She read in a book that what if we knot up the tentacles? (This wouldn't work, if you look at the animations, the OD tentacles are stiff, not bendy like a normal octopus) Something touches her. She says “Quit poking me” but… What are you talking about? / I didn’t touch you. If you say you didn’t touch her (which you didn’t) could she have imagined it? No, too real for that…

In the boss area/island nothing looks out of place. Watch out! / Octopus! Either one will warn her of the impending attack. (Obviously) If you pick Watch Out! , That was close, if you hadn’t warned her, it could have gotten a hold of her and pulled her under water. If it’s unbeatable or there’s lots, both choices are still bad, but only one choice now: beat it.

If you can beat it, she’s relieved. Another appears, but it is smaller and non-aggressive so it just goes away. This confirms ‘more than 1’ is the real answer (Which makes sense, as KO’ing something that mysteriously regenerates after ‘sinking to its death’ implies more mystic creatures than what’s actually dealt with) Let’s go up and report the real answer. Gray says regular culling of Octo Diablos will be needed, but there’s not enough people to do it…though it can’t be ignored. It’s a win today though, because of better understanding of the situation. Also, that there is more but they won’t all come out at once / they are solitary. Gray will call on you next time one appears.

Quest prize: twin ketchup. (mechguns shaped like generic ketchup bottles that shoot red goo)
